Hardware Placement

“I’m not sure if I should choose knobs or pulls and where to place them.”  Did you know we offer FREE hardware consultations?  Please email your photos/blueprints to [email protected] and I will send you at least two options to start with based on your preferences–no strings attached!

To choose bar pull lengths for doors and drawers, aim for a pull length that's roughly one-third the width of the drawer or the height of the cabinet door for a balanced and proportional look.

Here's a more detailed guide:

1/3 Rule: The pull length should be approximately one-third the width of the drawer. Example: For a 30-inch wide drawer, a 10-inch pull would follow the 1/3 rule.

Multiple Pulls: For wider drawers (24 inches or greater), consider using two smaller pulls or one larger pull that covers more of the drawer front.

Spacing: When using multiple pulls, space them evenly, often dividing the drawer into thirds and placing the pulls horizontally in the center of each section.

Larger Pulls: Larger pulls can create a more modern look.

Functionality: Choose pulls that are easy to grip and operate, especially for heavier drawers.

Cabinet Doors:

1/3 Rule (Optional):  While the 1/3 rule can be applied to cabinet doors, it's less strictly followed than with drawers.

Proportionality:  Consider the height of the cabinet door and choose a pull length that complements the overall design.

Tall Doors:  For taller cabinets, consider longer pulls to ensure a comfortable grip and ease of use.

Short Doors:  For shorter doors, shorter pulls or knobs can be a good choice.

Consistency:  Consider using the same style and finish of pulls throughout your kitchen or bathroom for a cohesive look.
